What will your impact be as an IT Infrastructure Specialist in the Software Engineering and IT Department?
You will act as an expert in your field regarding the implementation, use, maintenance, and application of technological systems. Your main project will be the design and implementation of a computing cluster for the distributed computing program to meet departmental needs. You will potentially be involved in various parallel projects in collaboration with your colleagues on the technical team and the department's faculty members to leverage your expertise.
On a daily basis, you will:
- Implement and manage a distributed computing software and computing infrastructure project.Set up a departmental computing cluster to meet diverse teaching and research needs.
- Meet the needs of ÉTS researchers and external industrial or academic clients.Work on topics related to the development of techniques, methods, and practices for the institutional laboratory and the equipment involved.
- Analyze, advise on, and design approaches, processes, and methods related to technological development projects.Work closely with the department's teaching staff.
- Design and develop verification, maintenance, calibration, and application programs for systems. You will ensure their execution, allocation, and balancing of existing components.
- Collaborate on the department's various projects. You will participate in projects for the acquisition and integration of third-party applications or carry out technical architecture work.
- Plan the project implementation phases and determine the technical and material resource requirements.
- Participate, as needed, in the training of students. You will train those who will use the infrastructure, equipment, and systems in their research.
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE?
THE CHALLENGE?Education
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in IT Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant discipline.
Experience
- You have at least 3 years of relevant experience in a teaching or academic or industrial research environment.
- You possess expertise in the design and implementation of academic or research projects at the IT infrastructure level.

- You provide excellent customer service both during the planning and execution of projects only after their delivery.
- You possess excellent analytical, diagnostic, and complex problem-solving skills.
- You are comfortable with the advanced use and management of Linux servers.
- You have a solid understanding of basic networking.
- You have expertise in virtualization and containerization (LXD, Docker, etc.).
Other Skills
- You are proactive and constantly curious to learn and develop new skills.
- You possess excellent analytical, diagnostic, and complex problem-solving skills.
- You demonstrate a strong ability to motivate and inspire your colleagues.
- You foster the engagement of your colleagues to effectively achieve objectives commons.
- You have knowledge of search infrastructures, as well as OpenStack and Slurm environments.
