Senior DevOps Engineer

We are currently looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team.

Our servers are LAMP stacks and your primary responsibility is to make sure their performance, security and availability are maintained to a high standard. Secondary responsibilities are to modernize our technologies and automate infrastructure. You will be given proper training to understand the industry and how our voting system works.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience managing LAMP servers
• Excellent knowledge of CentOS
• Excellent knowledge of Apache (tuning, configuration, load balancing)
• Excellent knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB (replication, backups, optimization)
• Excellent knowledge of security issues and server hardening
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent research skills
• Strong knowledge of shell scripting
• Strong knowledge of server monitoring tools
• Strong knowledge of Ansible
• Strong knowledge of Terraform
• Strong knowledge of hardware virtualization
• Strong knowledge of managing firewalls (preferably with Fortigate UTM)
• Good knowledge of cPanel
• Good knowledge of conducting load tests
• Good knowledge of Galera cluster
• Good knowledge of Git or GitHub
• Good knowledge of PHP (ability to program is not required)
• Knowledge of SAML is preferable, but not required
• A university degree is preferable, however equivalent skills and experience will be considered
• A RHCSA (Red Hat Certified Administrator) or RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) certification is preferable, but not required
• A CCISP (Certified Information System Security Professional) certification is preferable, but not required
• A home office with high speed internet (if working from home is desired)

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Develop a general understanding of online voting and our business processes
• Develop an in-depth understanding the infrastructure of the voting system
• Use Git / Github for version control and project coordination
• Modernize, enhance, and document infrastructure elements to improve reliability, security, and performance
• Automate infrastructure deployment and configuration using Ansible and Terraform
• Review source code changes and test enhancements during peer reviews
• Administer production, development, and staging environments
• Monitor all infrastructure elements for faults, performances issues, and security issues
• Assist with periodic security audits
• Collaborate with programmers on improving DevOps systems
• Perform occasional special project, research, or brainstorming tasks
• Participate in team meetings
