Job Description

About the Position

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Automated Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of electronic, mechanical, and computer equipment at our clients' sites.

This role combines on-site interventions, remote technical support, and specialized maintenance on critical technology systems.

Main Responsibilities

Field Service and Technical Interventions

  • Respond to service calls at customer sites.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, and IT problems.
  • Perform repairs, adjustments, and replacements of defective components.
  • Perform calibrations, adjustments, and commissioning of equipment.
  • Conduct tests and validations to ensure the proper functioning of systems.
  • Assist customers in the use and Optimizing their equipment.
  • Prepare the equipment and parts necessary for interventions.

Workshop and Maintenance

  • Perform repairs and maintenance work in the workshop.
  • Repair or refurbish defective components.
  • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of electronic and mechanical equipment.

Technical Support

  • Provide technical support by phone, email, or remote access tools.
  • Document interventions and ensure follow-up on files clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex technical issues.

Availability

  • Participate in the 24-hour on-call program according to a set schedule.
  • Occasionally travel within the region when required.

Desired Profile

Education

  • DEC or university degree in electronics, electrotechnics, automation, or a related field.

Experience

    • 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role in technical support, automation, or industrial electronics.

Required Technical Skills

Networks and Communications

      • Wired, wireless, and radio networks.
      • Configuration and troubleshooting of TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, gateways, and subnets.

IT and Infrastructure

      • Windows and Windows Server.
      • Hyper-V and virtualization.
      • Redundant servers and critical environments.

Electronics and Instrumentation

    • Use of measuring instruments such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
    • Advanced electronic diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Specialized Systems

      • Point of Sale (POS) systems, payment terminals, and related peripherals.
      • Remote control software (TeamViewer, LogMeIn, VNC, or equivalent).
      • Reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical, and electronic schematics.

Strengths

        • Knowledge of SQL and scripting languages.
        • Experience in traffic control and IMSA detection systems.
        • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
        • Experience with complex automated systems or industrial equipment.

Language Requirements

        • Excellent command of French, both spoken and written.
        • Good command of English, both spoken and written.

English is required as the incumbent must communicate with clients, suppliers, and partners located outside the Quebec, as well as access to technical documentation, equipment manuals, and software available only in English.
