Job description

Reporting to the Director of Information Technologies and Telecommunications, the Computer Technician - Networking is responsible for installing, checking, maintaining and repairing various computer and telecommunications equipment associated with the transmission and processing of data on different media.

On a daily basis, this role consists of working within a small multidisciplinary team, managing concrete data and bringing it to life. In addition, this role allows you to put into practice all the expertise in IT and telecommunications training.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation and integration of various network equipment such as routers, switches, WiFi antennas, cameras, cabling and others;
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on various telecommunications sites;
  • Perform firmware updates on equipment;
  • Diagnose and resolve malfunctions of various telecommunications devices and intervene in the event of a breakdown;
  • Assist the network administrator in setting up, supervising and maintaining specialized systems (Backups, Virtualization Servers, IP Telephony, etc.);
  • Monitor network status using different management tools;
  • Write and update procedures relating to network infrastructure;
  • Ensure the proper functioning of the IT equipment, current communications equipment, miscellaneous equipment and telecommunications equipment, either through tests, at the request of users or according to projects;
  • Document the requests assigned to him in service call management software;
  • Maintain the IT hardware inventory and be responsible for receiving and shipping IT goods as well as the physical management of the IT hardware warehouse;
  • Set up additional technical laboratories for tests relating to the use of new workstations;
  • Collaborate with your team, particularly in the choice and evaluation of software and computer hardware as well as on the technology monitoring committee as needed.

PROFILE WANTED

  • Mastery of IP addressing;
  • Very good knowledge of network services such as DHCP, DNS, VPN, etc.;
  • Knowledge of network equipment such as switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, etc.;
  • Very good knowledge of the Office suite and Microsoft operating systems (for workstations and servers);
  • Knowledge applied to Fortinet, Cisco, Ubiquiti and Axis devices is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of Windows server systems, VMware virtualization environment, Veeam backup, Solarwinds monitoring and Asterisk IP telephony is considered an asset;
  • Very good knowledge of the Office suite and Visio;
  • Good management of priorities, sense of organization and planning;
  • Ability to perform several tasks alternately and to process several files at once;
  • Spirit of analysis and synthesis;
  • Autonomy and initiative;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Absolute discretion.

Required Qualifications

  • DEC in computer technology
  • Have three (3) years of experience in a similar position
  • Advanced level spoken and written French
  • Beginner level spoken and written English
